    James D. “Doug” Smith age 63, of Mount Ida, passed away April 1, 2016 at his home. He was born February 14, 1953 to Roy and Matilda Smith. He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Robin Smith, and a brother Byron Smith.

    He is survived by his sister Tonya Ray and husband John of Indiana, nieces Michelle Bender and Angela Shively, nephew John Ray II., a step-daughter Stacy Luedke, Step-son Delany Wornick, two grandchildren and three great- grandchildren and many good friends.

    He was retired from the Arkansas Highway Department. He enjoyed NASCAR, music and razorback sports. He will be missed dearly by his family and friends.

    Mr. Smith was sent for cremation per his wishes and a memorial will be held Saturday 23rd, 11:00 a.m. at Stanley-Standridge Cemetery with Reverend Mike Smith officiating. Arrangements were made under the direction of Thornton Funeral Home of Mount Ida, AR.

    So many fond memories from back in the day when we were employees of the city of Hot Springs. Still have the music he recorded for me. Rest in peace with Robin.
