Billy Max Shaddon, age 58, of Y City, Arkansas, went to heaven’s fair land to pick flowers with his mom again, on September 23, 2016.
Billy was born on April 14, 1958, in Mena, Arkansas, to Billy G. Shaddon and the late Esther Maxine (Miner) Shaddon.
Cancer took his last earthly breath away as he lay in the VA hospital in Little Rock, only to release him to experience his first exhilarating breath given him from the Rock of Ages in eternal glory!
Soon after high school, Billy served in the U.S. Navy, from 1977 to 1981. While serving in the Navy, Billy was honored with seven letters of commendation, two of which came directly from the Pentagon. Billy was very proud of the privilege of serving his country.
After serving in the Navy, Billy spent the better part of 30 years as a log truck driver and ‘lumber jack’. He loved being in the outdoors, with some of his best memories being of times spent with his sons, grandkids, or friends, in the woods or along the creek banks. He said recently his fondest of memories was of him and some of his boys chasing a bear over two mountains, (though the boys were reluctant in the chase, at first)!
In his ‘down time’ Billy enjoyed reading, and his visitors always found several books lying close at hand.
Those who will continue to cherish his memory include: his seven sons; BJ, Ricky, and Timmy (all of Waldron), Erik, (of Fort Smith), Lance (of Muldrow, Ok), Nathan, (of Greenwood), and Clayton, (of Y-City). Billy is also survived by his father, Billy G. Shaddon and wife Faye (of Y-City), his three sisters; Donna Cox (of Little Rock), Brenda Funk (of Green Forrest), and Glenda Woodard (of Y-City), his two brothers: Johnny and Mike (both of Y-City), his nine grandsons and two granddaughters, plus many extended family members, and a host of friends.
Billy was preceded in death by his mother, his maternal grandparents, William M. and Ruby Miner, and his paternal grandparents, Garrett and Edna Shaddon.
Billy’s life celebration and memorial service will be Tuesday, September 27, 2:00 pm, at the Chant Lane Pentecostal Church of Y-City, with his brother, Mike, officiating.
Visitation will be the same day, at the church, beginning at noon.
Interment will follow, in the Chant Cemetery at Y-City, under the direction of the Thornton Funeral Home of Mt. Ida, Arkansas.
Pallbearers will be Billy’s seven sons, BJ, Ricky, Timmy, Nathan, & Clayton Shaddon and Lance Jones, with Erik Jones serving as Honorary Pallbearer.
