  • Alton D. Tiner, age 68 of Sims, AR, passed away on July 15, 2017. He was born November 22, 1948 in Bauxite, AR to the late Alton C. Tiner and Dorothy Williams. Alton is preceded in death by his parents, and one uncle, Jerry Williams whom he dearly loved.

    Survivors include: wife DeVonia Tiner, children, David Tiner (Christina), Darla Roe (Robert), grandsons, Ryan, Bobby and Brandon, great-grandsons, Liam, Luka, one brother, Felton Green, a host of nieces and nephews, two sister-in-laws, one brother-in-law and his in laws Irvin and Alta Shaw.

    Alton was dearly loved by everyone at the Montgomery County Nursing Home, staff and residents. He loved his wife, children and grandchildren dearly. Alton loved spending time with his family and extended family. Alton and his wife DeVonia once camped at 27 Fishing Village for 28 days with their friends Judy and Mark Collins, and their Shaw cousins. They had a great time! He loved Ecclesiastes 3:1-9: “A time for everything”. He will be missed by all.

    Visitation will be held Monday, July 17, 2017, 6-8 p.m. at Thornton Funeral Home in Mount Ida, AR. A graveside service will be held Tuesday, July 18, 2017, 10:00 a.m. at Rocky Cemetery in Sims, AR with Earl Gene White officiating. Pallbearers: David Tiner, Rob Roe, Dub Clenney, Brandon Roe, Bruce Gray and Chris Gray. Donations in memory of Alton can be made to the Rocky Cemetery Fund (Marsha Lambert).
