  • Charlene Pickens, 84, of Mount Ida, AR passed away Tuesday, January 15, 2019 at St. Vincent hospital in Hot Springs, AR.  Charlene was born July 13, 1934 in Mount Ida, AR to the late Charles and Reval (Hicks) Barrett. She was married to Charles Jerry Pickens on March 18, 1951.  She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 61 years, and one brother W.J. (Dub) Barrett. Charlene was a loving mother, grandmother and friend.

    Survivors include her children; Ramona L. Kimes of Mount Ida, Rhonda (Robert) Bailey of Akron, Ohio, Rheta (Jerry) Noble of West Liberty, Ohio, Charles B. (Carol) Pickens of New London Ohio, and Rosetta (Eric) Smith of Wadsworth, Ohio; 10 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

    Visitation will be Sunday, January 20, 2019 at 2pm at Thornton Funeral Home Chapel with services following at 3pm Rodney Standridge and Robbie Loudermilk will be officiating. Pallbearers will be her grandsons and friends. Burial will be Monday January 21, 2019 at 10:00am at Owley Cemetery. Services under the direction of Thornton Funeral Home in Mount Ida, AR.     I so enjoyed having Char and Jerry as friends!They were so delightful and faithful! They were so supportive of their family and wanted to share in all the events! Char was such a sweet and lovely lady and will be missed!My thoughts and prayers are with you all!
