  • Lt. Col. Donald F. Kansfield, AF Ret., 87, of Norman, AR passed Thursday, February 14, 2019 at his home. He was born April 24, 1931 in Hammond, Indiana to the late Martin and Martha Kansfield. Donald is preceded in death by both parents and his wife Gwynn Kansfield. Donald and Gwynn are together forever, in love once again.

    He is survived by two daughters; Angela (Roger) Scoggins, Vicki (Kurt) Ogle, grandkids; Jeremy (Amy) Connelly, Tommy (Jenny) Connelly, Kurt (Lorraine) Ogle and Arthena Jaramillo and great-grandkids; Kayelee Connelly, Whitley Connelly, Kanyon Connelly, Jaren Asuncion, Izaak Ogle, Noah Ogle, and Gabriel Ogle.

    There will be no services. In lieu of flowers, family request donations be made in Mr. Kansfield’s name to the VFW and/or St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital. Services under the direction of Thornton Funeral Home in Mount Ida, AR. Guest register at www.thorntonfh.com.

    Vicky, I know your Dad had to feel the love and devotion you showed him during these last days. You did ‘Honor you father and Mother’ to the full degree. I am so sorry for your loss. Love you like a sister in Christ.

    I always enjoyed Col. Kansfield as a patient and loved to talk airplanes with him. He was a great aviator and protector of our country during the Cold War flying B-52s on many 24-hour missions with several midair refuelings during the flight. He shared many wartime stories with me and my staff and we so enjoyed the time with him. So glad he is with his wife again and the heavenly hosts now. We will miss him.
